Tell us about yourself, where you’re from and what you enjoy.
I am born and raised here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin also currently a senior at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee obtaining my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science. What I enjoy is being a mom, my son keeps me on my toes. Everything I work hard for is for my son Jackson. I started Jackson’s House Milwaukee because of him. I want him to know despite the short-comings, pitfalls and challenges life has handed me at times, I was able to make a change for myself and my community.
Why did you start your business? What makes you passionate about it?
I grew up in the foster care system, had to deal with my mother’s substance abuse, and had to deal with my father death all at a young age. I have constantly had to battle the system and defy the statistics usually placed upon so many of dealing with similar issues. These low moments in my life have not deterred me but instead inspire me to help others. In 2018 I created Jackson House as a vessel for those of us in the community to help improve our city one deed at a time. At Jackson House our mission is to help the homeless, provide resources for the community, clean up trash in the community and overall change the narrative for our people.
