We would like to take a moment and thank everyone for their support of MKE Black. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind, with interviews from Fox6, WISN12, WPR, WUWM, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, among other news outlets. While the press has been great, the app would not be possible without the hundreds of Black residents who successfully launched their own businesses through hard work and dedication. It is our mission to support these businesses, and help others who dream to start their own.
We have received a lot of questions the past few weeks, and have answered a handful below.
When will the iOS verison of the app become available?
Currently we are working with Apple to have our account approved. Once that step is complete we will submit the app to be reviewed by the Apple team. We have had several issues with the process and unfortunately cannot provide an exact date for the release.
Is the app free for businesses?
The app is free for all users and businesses on the app. Only optional advertising requires payments.
When will MKE Black expand to other cities?
While we would love to expand to more cities in Wisconsin, including Madison, Racine/Kenosha, and Green Bay, we are going to focus our efforts in the Milwaukee area.
Is the app only for Black residents in Milwaukee?
The app is for everyone! A lot of folks seem to think that the app is specifically for Black residents in Milwaukee. The app was actually created to showcase Black businesses for all residents of the area, as well as travelers who visit the city.
